Practice History

Mr. Davis has been in private practice since 1971 when he joined Weary Davis upon graduating from the University of Kansas School of Law. He began representing cable television operators in matters such as franchising, forming cable companies, financing cable television acquisitions, and representing them before federal and local regulators and in sales and purchases of cable television properties. Mr. Davis represents cable television and other telecommunications clients, including telephone, internet and data transport companies. Weary Davis has built a strong reputation in the Midwest as effective and knowledgeable advocates for small and medium-sized telecommunications companies.

Mr. Davis also has extensive experience in estate planning, family wealth protection and transfer and legal issues of importance to elderly people, including Medicaid eligibility planning. Financial planners, stockbrokers and institutional trust companies regularly refer clients to Mr. Davis for assistance in estate planning as well as estate and trust administration. The firm takes pride in helping families craft understandable and workable estate plans and is always mindful of the goals of its clients in this regard. Mr. Davis handles estates that are modest in size to those with complex estate and income tax issues. Mr. Davis is aware of the delay often associated with probate and trust administration and strives to meet and exceed clients' expectations for prompt and accurate service in this area.

 

Personal

Mr. Davis was born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1946 and grew up in the Kansas City area. He graduated cum laude from Kansas State University in 1968 with degrees in political science and history before graduating from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1971. During law school he served as an editor of the Kansas Law Review. Mr. Davis married Joy Davis, a high school guidance counselor, and they have two daughters and four grandchildren.
